SSF4 AE, Cody ( Ibuki ) vs Kevin ( Zangief )

I manage to get ONE of the Video's from TimeZone yesterday !!!! WOOT :)
Here it is, hope you enjoy, NZ's best ibuki and Zangief :) Quality ain't the best because the iPhone camera is not good.... hope you guys like it.

Today at Timezone

Today stayed at Timezone while waiting for traffic to go home.
Saw Kevin, Cody, Andy (not me) and Calab. It was really fun playing both Kevin's Yun/ Gief and Cody's Ibuki (scary vortex). Anyways recorded some matches using my iPhone... but I can not transfer them to my PC :( very gutted.
I'll put some match tips and tricks in another post targeting specific character.

I got home and played a few console SSF4 and recorded a match before my camera run out of battery lol...

The Chun Li is Skullator from NZ.

Fei Long SSF4 AE Changes.

Fei Long SSF4 AE Changes.

Normal Moves• Close and Far Standing Light Punch have an extra frame of advantage, making it +6 now.
• Close Standing Medium Kick has a 4 frame startup.
• Additional frame advantage on many moves.

Specials
• Less recovery on EX Rekka on hit and on guard.
• No invincibility on his Hard Flying Kick (Chicken Wing).

Other
• Is considered to be mid-air right after the invincibility frames of his backdash end.
• Crouching Medium Kick still cannot be Canceled, earlier reports said this might happen.

I see that he has some nice buff one his normal moves. The only downside is the HK ChickenWing losing invisibility :( but I guess you can't have everything. Apart from these I don't see a big difference from SSF4 to SSF4 AE for Fei.

SSF4 AE Fei Long vs Yun and Zangief

Today I went to Yum Cha (Chinese breakfast) with my girlfriend, my best mate and his son. We then did some shopping, so I took a tour into BK Timezone in Central Auckland to play some SSF4 AE vs my friend Kevin. Kevin was 2x National champion for SF4 2009 and National champion, SSF4 2010, he has the best Zangief in NZ and currently learning Yun. My Ryu has always lost to his Zangief, very hard match, to me it's like 7-3 to Zangief's favor. Anyways, today we meet up in Timezone and play some SSF4 AE. I use Fei Long today and mange to beat his Yun and Zangief many times, I think ratio was about 7/3 to me winning.

Yun matchup as Fei Long:
s.MP and c.MP work wonders against Yun's dive kick.
Fei's U2 is really good to keep Yun's pressure off you as he will be scared to attack too much.
c>HP is really good range, use it to mixup with c.MP frame trap.
EX ChickenWing out of bad situations is really useful.

Zangief matchup as Fei Long:
Use U2 to keep Zangief's pressure off you after knockdown.
Use c>HP to zone Zangief, it's REALLY USEFUL, I repeat, REALLY USEFUL.
Anti air all his Jump in's, do not let him get close to you as his new LP command grab has INSANE range.
If Zangief choose U2, BE VERY careful not to Anti air him too many times when he jumps in as the his U2 WILL catch you. Best option when he jump in with U2, you either backdash or block and then decide what to do.
Again, you can EX chickenWing out of bad situations but be vary of his U2 as it will also hit you.

Sorry I do not have Video for today as I was not expecting to go to the Arcade... next time I will post one :)

PS: I have been learning Fei Long for a week now, I really enjoy his style of gameplay so will be using him more often than Ryu. I will be changing between the two characters depending on matchup.

My thoughts on SSF4 AE Ryu changes

As Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition is now out, I will talk specifically about this version only and how it affects the characters I use.

First up is Ryu, my main:

- Far version s.MP is now special cancel-able.
To me, this don't come into use very often, you can buff s.MP into SRK or Hadouken when trying to counter poke.

- Near version s.MK's damage increased.
This is something useful, you can hit confirm from a jump in attack and c.LP > s.MK xxx EX fireball xxx Ultra1. But I don't use it very often as this is a 1 frame link.

- Near version s.HK now has more frame advantage. They mentioned it's possible to link s.HK -> SRK.
Not quite sure what thye really mean here? I believe they are talking about close standing HK > SRK?

- Less active frames on c.MK.
This is a major for Most Ryu players, but we have to deal with it... personally I think its still pretty good, but not as good as before.

- F+HP damage decreased
This sucks overall -.- nerf me more :(

- Jump arc changed on his diagonal jump tatsu. They say it's harder to run away with the tatsu, but also says that its cross-up will be more ambiguous when jumping in.
This is the MAJOR change for Ryu users, previously our only way of running away when we are cornered. Ryu players will feel how painful this is when playing against Zangief :( :( :(

- Did something about EX air tatsu whiffing the last few kicks on hit.
This should have been fixed during vinilla time, when comboing into EX tatsu or sometimes even normal tatsu, the last few hits will miss, leaving us vulnerable, thank god they fix it after.. two versions.

So there you go, thats all for Ryu's change in Arcade Edition of SSF4.
My thoughts is now Ryu is not top tier, but definitely above mid tier, he has many hard matches, even more in Arcade Edition than previous. I still need to play the two brothers, Yun and Yang to see how the matchup is like. I still think Ryu can be strong and solid, just depend on player.

My First Post, Hello :)

Hmmm... where to start...
Beautiful day outside today, wish I was outside at a beach, but I stuck at work...
On topic, I started this blog today at work because I was bored and after reading Tokido san's blog I thought why not start my own? for those who don't know Tokido, he is one of the best Street Fighter 4 Akuma player in Japan, anyways, I don't really know if anyone will ever read this but what the hell :-)

I will update later with some of my early days of Street Fighter 4 and other stuff that might be worth posting for history's sake :)
For now here is something for those who might not know what Street Fighter 4 is.
